The following is our advice for you to consider…

Optimising your website

Search Terms

You should take some time to consider what search terms you would like your website to be listed as, and what your visitors might be searching for.

People often think that successful search engine placement lies in placing your chosen search terms in a hidden tag called the meta keywords tag. This was true in the past, but today this tag has little importance to the big search engines like Google, and MSN.

Search engines (SE) will find your search terms in the content displayed on the page, and will refer to your meta keywords, (also description and title tags) as only a guide of what your page is about.

Content is King!

Simply put, if your keywords are not in your visible page content and title, then that page is not relevant for those keywords, and you will not be listed for them.

Your page content should be focused on and written around the keywords you are trying to promote, and each page should concentrate on a few related terms.

However, your page should contain natural sentences, and avoid repeating search terms for the sake of SE, because nobody wants to read repetitive spam. If you take it too far you will most likely trip a filter, and the page will be excluded anyway.
